During meetings held by local organizations, demands were put forward to expel Ramiz Mehdiyev—who is accused of several serious crimes—from the party ranks and to strip him of all state awards; the chairs of these local organizations were also requested to raise this issue with the party leadership, Press Service of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) told APA.
It was stated by Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and Head of the Central Apparatus, during the first meeting of the party’s Board—composed of members elected at the 8th Congress.
It was noted that this matter was submitted for consideration by the Board in response to numerous appeals. Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), along with Board members Elmar Gasimov, Eldar Ibrahimov, Hikmat Mammadov, Mubariz Gurbanli, Bahar Muradova, Anar Isgandarov, Musa Guliyev, and Ziyafat Asgarov, delivered remarks noting that, based on their observations at various meetings and events, this issue has generated significant public resonance. They emphasized that Ramiz Mehdiyev—who stands accused of treason, attempting to seize power through illegal means, and several other criminal acts—no longer possesses the moral or political standing to remain within the ranks of the New Azerbaijan Party, and they expressed their support for his expulsion from the party.
Following these discussions, a unanimous decision was reached to expel Ramiz Anvar oglu Mehdiyev from the New Azerbaijan Party; furthermore, it was deemed appropriate to submit a formal request to the relevant authorities to have him stripped of all state awards.
