Today marks Day of Fuzuli city, four years pass since liberation of Fuzuli

Today is the anniversary of the liberation of Fuzuli city from occupation, APA reports.

Fuzuli city was liberated from Armenian occupation on October 17, 2020, as a result of the counter-attack launched by the Azerbaijani Army on September 27, 2020.

From the beginning of the fighting until October 17, several villages of the Fuzuli region were liberated from occupation by successful operations. The President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev conveyed the news of the liberation of Fuzuli city from occupation on October 17 in his address to the people.

In his address, the president announced that along with the city of Fuzuli, the villages of Gochahmadli, Juvarli, Pirahmadli, Musabayli, Chiman, Isigli and Dadali of Fuzuli district were liberated from occupation.

By the Decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev, October 17 was established as the Day of Fuzuli City.

The relocation continues to the city of Fuzuli, which is the next address of the Great Return to the lands liberated from occupation.

Fierce battles took place for the liberation of Fuzuli city from occupation. The Azerbaijani Army, which broke the enemy's resistance, forced them to retreat and suffered a heavy defeat. During the Fuzuli operation, a large number of Armenian troops and equipment were destroyed.

The medal "For the liberation of Fuzuli" was established in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, servicemen who demonstrated personal courage and bravery by participating in the combat operations for the liberation of the Fuzuli district were awarded the medal "For the liberation of Fuzuli."

Recall that the Fuzuli district was occupied on August 23, 1993, by the Armenian Armed Forces. During the occupation, the Armenians destroyed the city of Fuzuli, the villages of the district, committed acts of vandalism against religious, historical, cultural monuments, cemeteries, as well as nature.
