4 years have passed since liberation of Hadrut settlement of Azerbaijan's Khojavand district from Armenian occupation, APA reports.
Following counter-offensive operations of the Azerbaijani Army that started on September 27, 2020, the settlement of Hadrut was liberated from the Armenian occupiers on October 9.
President of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev broke the news of the liberation of the Hadrut and other 8 settlements in his address to the people.
The head of state announced that, as a result of a successful operation, the villages of Gishlag, Garajalli, Afandilar, Suleymanli in the Jabrayil district, Yukhari Guzlak and Gorazilli in the Fuzuli district, Chayli in the Tartar district, the village of Sor in the Khojavand district, and the settlement of Hadrut have been liberated from occupation.
The liberation of Hadrut is considered one of the key turning points of the 44-day war.
As a result of the Hadrut operation, a significant number of personnel and equipment of the Armenian army were destroyed.
The liberation of Hadrut not only represented a heavy defeat for the Armenian army but also dealt a significant psychological blow to the Armenians.
The occupying Armenia did not recover from this defeat, while the Azerbaijani Army's way to Shusha was opened.
