Azerbaijani-Americans post petition on official website of White House for recognition of Khojaly Massacre

Baku – APA. The Azerbaijani-Americans has posted a petition on official website of the White House for proclamation commemorating and recognizing the war crime of the Khojaly Massacre, and its victims by Obama Administration. The State Committee for Work with Diasporas told APA that the petition posted on the “We the People” page of the White House website says that on February 26, the Azerbaijani-Americans and all friends of the U.S. Azeris Network will mark the 21st anniversary of one of the most horrific events of the 1990s, the Khojaly Massacre -- the biggest war crime in ex-USSR in the second part of the 20th century.

On behalf of a group of Azerbaijani-Americans and our friends throughout the nation and the world, on the eve of the 21st anniversary of this tragedy, we hereby call upon you to help us commemorating Khojaly Massacre and its victims with a Presidential proclamation.

More than 99 000 signatures are needed by 25 February, 2103 for consideration of the petition posted in “We the People” page created by the White House in order to allow citizens to contact the administration with regard to their concerns.

The Azerbaijani-American Council (AAC) and Pax Turcica organization are launching letter campaign for recognition of Khojaly Massacre. Every year US-based Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations send letter to the US congressmen, local government and media outlets on Khojaly Massacre and public articles in local press agencies.
