5th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival starts in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“ APA. The opening ceremony of the 5th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival was held at Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku, APA reports. Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev said the main aim of the festival is to organize the performances of the famous art figures in the motherland of Rostropovich.
â€œThis international festival is organized as a real festivity in the capital of our country in December every year. The festival will last for seven days. World-famous musicians will participate in the festival,â€ he said.

Olga Rostropovich, art director of the festival, president of Rostropovich Foundation, said it was her fatherâ€™s wish to hold international music festivals in Baku.

Following the speeches, the concert began. Symphony Orchestra of the Flemish Opera performed works by the world classics.

The closing ceremony of the festival will be held at Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall on December 10.
