President Ilham Aliyev issues decree on organizing World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Azerbaijan once in two years

According to the decree, the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held in Azerbaijan on April 7-9, 2011, with the participation of the representatives of 102 states and over 10 international organizations, is a global platform for cooperation among various cultures, taking into account this and its role in the promotion of Azerbaijani peopleâ€™s tolerant culture, historical traditions, it has been decided to hold the forum once in two years. Culture and Tourism Ministry will be coordinator in organizing the forum. According to the decree, the main aim of the Forum is to review various aspects of the intercultural dialogue in the modern societies characterized by diversity and pluralism, promote its strengthening on the local, regional and global levels.

About 500 representatives, including culture ministers of 20 states, deputy ministers of several countries, representatives of the leading international organizations, including ISESCO Director General, Assistant Director General of UNESCO, chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, mayors of a number of cities, outstanding culture figures, scientists and experts attended the Forum under the slogan "Let’s come in touch with common values and derive enrichment from different cultures" initiated by Azerbaijanâ€™s President Ilham Aliyev.
