Culture TV channel opened in Azerbaijan today

Baku â€“ APA. The new Culture TV channel opened Azerbaijan today, APA reports.

The Culture TV channel will be on air from 12.00 to 02.00 beginning from Tuesday.

By the decision of National Television and Radio Council the tender was declared from August 4 to September 4, 2010 in order to open the new channel in 44th frequency. But the tender didnâ€™t take place because lack of applicants.

According to the NTRCâ€™s decision on September 6, the tender was declared from September 7 to October 7 for the opening of Culture TV channel on the basis of the requirements of the article 15 of TV and Radio broadcasting law. Only one pretender - Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Closed Joint-Stock Company participated in the tender. The council declared AzTV the winner of the tender according to point 15.5 of TV and Radio broadcasting law, as well as point 2.1.10 of the rules of the tender held on special license in sphere of TV and radio broadcasting.
