Baku hosts international symposium “Musical instruments of the Turkic-speaking peoples” – <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku. Ulkag Gasimova – APA. The international symposium on the theme “Musical instruments of the Turkic-speaking peoples” has started in the Museum Center in Azerbaijan’s capital. APA reports that the event has been organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, TURKSOY and Azerbaijan State Museum of Music Culture.

Making a keynote speech at the symposium Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said the main targets of the symposium is to determine the common and different features of the musical instruments of the Turkic-speaking peoples, study the technology, acoustics, iconographic elements of the musical instruments, determine traditional musical instruments in the activity of composers, collections of the musical instruments of the Turkic-speaking peoples, new approaches and assessments, restoration of the disappeared instruments, discuss pedagogy and performance.
“Turkic peoples have always had great and ancient culture. The Turkic peoples have never appropriated the culture of others, because the entire world admires our culture. Throughout the history the culture of the Turkic peoples was appropriated by others,” he said.

TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasinov expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting the event.

Azerbaijan State Ensemble of Ancient Musical Instruments led by Majnun Karimov performed at the opening of the symposium. The symposium continued with the plenary and section meetings.

The symposium will last till December 17. Scientists and philosophers from the TURKSOY member countries, as well as America, Europe and Asia are attending the symposium.
