Azerbaijani carpet presented to Gerard Depardieu

According to APA, the famous French actor expressed his opinion about the Azerbaijani cinema. â€œI concluded that Azerbaijan needs in movie production. I donâ€™t know how many films are produced in your country a year. We will work in the field of cinema here and I informed the head of state about the work I intend to do hereâ€.

Depardieu spoke about the worldâ€™s cinematographic projects and reasons of the development of the American cinema. The actor spoke about his plans of film production in Azerbaijan and said Italian, German and French actors would be involved in these projects. â€œThe film about Alexandre Dumas to be produced in Azerbaijan will be shown in France undoubtedly. Such projects are very important for the country. Cinema and theater, culture in whole should be the countryâ€™s main policy. The country can be popular over the world with its cinema. I think if Azerbaijan didnâ€™t live under the Soviet regime, there wouldnâ€™t be such delaysâ€.

Depardieu said he was ready to work together with the Azerbaijani cinematographers. â€œI want to see the Azerbaijani authorsâ€™ data. It should be different from the Internet reports. I donâ€™t need in the Internet materials and I have to see results of your imagination. It is not correct to get everything on Internet. I am not an Internet user, but I get information from the users and it doesnâ€™t satisfy meâ€.

Then the guest responded the questions of the Azerbaijani cinematographers. Director of the Azerbaijani State Film Fund Jamil Guliyev presented Azerbaijani carpet to the actor, who will celebrate his birthday on December 27.

The actor will end his visit to Azerbaijan on December 16. Depardieu leaves for Gabala region today.
