Official opening ceremony of Baku International Theater Conference takes place - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

The conference, which started on November 8, is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

APA reports that over 70 theater experts from 30 countries are participating in the conference.

Addressing the conference Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said that the history of theater has ancient tradition in Azerbaijan.
â€œFundamental changes were made in the sphere of culture and art in Azerbaijan in the second half of the 19th century, this period was crucial for the history of Azerbaijani theater. â€œLankaran khanin veziriâ€ and â€œHaji Garaâ€ by M.F. Akhundov were first staged in Azerbaijan in 1873,â€ he said.

Abulfas Garayev said there are 27 state theaters in Azerbaijan.
â€œ433 new performances were prepared by the state theaters in the past five years. 68 of them were staged by the order of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism,â€ he said.

Deputy Culture Minister of Lithuania Deividas Stanonkus said the conference held in Azerbaijan is very important.

Head of Russiaâ€™s â€œFive eveningsâ€ Theater Festival Marina Dmitrevskaya said like in Russia the theater is losing its spirit in other countries.
â€œTheaterâ€™s present state is not so good. We have similar outlook on this problem. I am sure that we will achieve the solution to this problem,â€ she said.
