Russia is optimistic about COP29's success, but much work needs to be done to ensure it, Maxim Reshetnikov, the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation said during the briefing held in Baku based on the results of the meeting with the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, APA-Economics reports.

The topic of the climate agenda is very important for us, because this year Azerbaijan is leading the COP29. This is a enormous climate conference. We are fully confident of the success of COP29, but a lot of work needs to be done to achieve it," the minister noted.

According to him, climate and economic issues are extremely interconnected. In this case, the matter is about the availability of energy resources and trade barriers. The issue of meeting the goals set within the framework of the Paris Agreement is included in this.

“We understand the difficult task before Azerbaijan as the main communicator to find a compromise between the very different interests of developed markets, developing countries, hydrocarbon exporters and suppliers of "new" energy technologies,” - Maxim Reshetnikov stressed.

He added that in this context, dialog and constant communication are very important.
