A conference with the participation of high-ranking officials from the five Caspian littoral states is underway in Iran, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.
The 7th Conference of the Tehran Convention has begun in Tehran after a three-year hiatus.
The meeting, which began three days ago at the level of experts from the relevant agencies of the Caspian littoral states, continues today at the level of deputy environment ministers of those countries.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov is participating in the meeting.
One of the main issues discussed at today’s meeting was the decline in the water level of the Caspian Sea. It was emphasized that this issue has become a serious concern for each of the five Caspian littoral states.
It was also noted that monitoring of the Caspian Sea, protection of Caspian seals at the regional level, and preservation of the biodiversity of this body of water were among the other issues discussed at expert meetings held in recent days.
It was reported that after agreement is reached today on details and technical issues and the documents are finalized, the results will be presented in the form of a statement.
