Cooperation between Tehran and Baku on the Caspian Sea will be very effective, Ahmad Reza Lahijanzadeh, Deputy Head for Marine Environment and Wetlands at Iran's Department of Environment, told APA's Tehran bureau.
He touched upon the discussions held with the Azerbaijani delegation within the framework of the 7th meeting of the Tehran Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea.
Ahmad Reza Lahijanzadeh stated that Iran and Azerbaijan, as neighboring countries sharing a common border, can cooperate very effectively in the field of the Caspian Sea.
“Within the framework of the Tehran Convention meeting, we held productive discussions and exchanged views with Azerbaijan on biodiversity, joint research, as well as transboundary protected areas, rivers and wetlands, including transboundary water bodies such as the Araz River,” Lahijanzadeh noted.
