Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has expressed hope that the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran will produce a positive outcome, APA reports.
According to Hakan Fidan, the negotiations could conclude with good news today.
"Hopefully, the talks between Iran and the United States will result in positive news today," he said.
The minister noted that one of the main topics under discussion is the technical aspects related to the Strait of Hormuz.
"This issue involves a certain degree of complexity. Oman also has an important role in matters related to the map. Work is underway on the mechanism by which the strait will remain open, the method to be used, and the duration for which it will stay open," he said.
Hakan Fidan stressed that it is of great importance for the parties to reach an agreement on the transitional period.
The foreign minister added that a 60-day transition period is currently being discussed.
"If all issues are agreed upon during this 60-day period, the parties could sign a permanent agreement," he said.
He added that, apart from the Strait of Hormuz, there are already agreements in principle on other issues, particularly Iran's nuclear program.
"We know that the parties have reached certain agreements in principle, especially on the nuclear issue. Therefore, if both sides demonstrate sincere political will, it will be possible to reach a permanent agreement. However, the issue concerning the Strait of Hormuz must be resolved first," Hakan Fidan said.
