Devlet Bahçeli, leader of Türkiye's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has said that he did not visit Selahattin Demirtaş in prison.

Speaking to the Millet news agency, Bahçeli said, however, that he regularly communicates with Demirtaş through his lawyers and keeps informed about his condition.

"He also sends me his greetings. We have good relations. I also ask him whether he has any requests or needs. We worked together in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye," the MHP leader stressed.

Bahçeli also commented on his earlier statement that "Selahattin Demirtaş should return home." He said he still stands by that view and once again declared that Selahattin Demirtaş should return home.

The MHP leader added that imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan should be granted the "right to hope:" "Our goal is to achieve peace in Türkiye and the region."

Note that the framework bill, which is expected to be discussed in the Turkish parliament this week, will provide the legal basis for the PKK's disarmament process. The AK Party will review the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity at a closed parliamentary group meeting to be held today in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
