Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Austria Federal Procurement Agency and Lithuanian State Tourism Department on behalf of European Union and Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism as beneficiary starts twinning project.
According to APA-Economics, presentation of twinning project “strengthening of opportunities of tourism department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism” was held within the AITF 2013, the Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair.
The project aims to improve the performances of tourism sector of the country in diversification process of Azerbaijan’s economy.
The €900,000 - project, which is financed by EU, consists of 4 components – improvement of Azerbaijan’s rank in traveling and tourism competitiveness index (78th), provision of more positive assessment of tourism department of the Ministry by tourism representatives, involvement new private and state investments and increase inrush of tourists and incomes from it.
The project will be implemented within 15 months. In this period, the Austrian and Lithuanian specialists will cooperate with tourism department of the Ministry. Moreover, for employees of tourism department, practical visits to Austria and Lithuania will be organized. At the end of the project, a tourism zone locating in Azerbaijan will be selected and analyzed by project members to strengthen the business and investment potential of this zone.
