Since the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population began operating in 2020, a total of 953 children have been returned from social service institutions to their families through reintegration measures implemented by the agency, the Ministry told APA.

According to the Ministry, family development plans containing social support measures for families are prepared as part of the process of returning children to family care.

It was stated that, based on these plans, support is provided to strengthen families in relevant areas.

"After children are returned to family care, monitoring is carried out to assess their overall situation within their families. The Agency also provides social and psychological support and conducts awareness-raising activities to prevent children from being deprived of parental care. Over the past period, 1,127 children have been prevented from being placed in institutions by their families."

It was noted that, as in previous years, the period from October 20 to November 20 has been declared "Child Rights Month" in Azerbaijan by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, ahead of the anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

"The purpose of holding the month is to promote measures implemented in our country to protect children's rights, further increase public awareness of this issue, and draw greater attention to this area. The right of children to grow up and live in a family environment is also one of their most important rights."
