US President Donald Trump has said that the Republican Party has numerous talented politicians who could run in the 2028 presidential election, CNN reports.
Trump said it was still too early to reveal the names of potential candidates.
"I think we have incredibly talented politicians. I don't want to talk about specific individuals because it's still a little too early for that," Trump said.
The US President noted that election results are viewed as a certain indicator of future political developments.
"You know, they use tonight as a benchmark. But we have a very strong team. I think we have a large group of talented people who could do a very good job," he emphasized.
Asked which candidate from the Democratic Party could be the most serious rival in the 2028 presidential election, Trump said he knew some politicians but did not want to reveal their names.
"People aren't thinking about them yet. That's why I don't want to bring them up. Otherwise, we might suddenly find ourselves facing a really serious opponent," Trump said.
The US President also did not rule out that his endorsement could play a decisive role in determining the Republican Party's candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
"They say that whoever Trump endorses or chooses will win. I don't know whether that's true. I was asked about this two nights ago as well. They asked who the Republican Party's candidate would be. The answer was that it would be whoever Donald Trump wanted. That's possible, maybe it's true, but it's still too early to talk about it," Trump added.
