US President Donald Trump has said he is ready to exercise his veto power if Democrats take control of Congress, Trump said during an interview with CBS News, APA reports.
According to Trump, one of the most important powers of the president is the right to veto. He believes that after several months of possible confrontation with Democrats, the two sides will reach a compromise.
"Historically, after presidents have used their veto power for several months, their political opponents come and say: We need to reach an agreement," Trump added.
The US leader also expressed confidence that he would find a way to reach an agreement with Democrats even if they take control of Congress.
He also emphasized that the president has extensive powers and that Supreme Court rulings have confirmed these powers.
