On September 24, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met in New York with Jenny Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Franklin Templeton, one of the world’s largest and most influential global investment managers, APA reports.
The meeting featured an exchange of views on the global investment environment, opportunities for emerging economies to access capital markets, and the role of international partnerships in driving economic transformation.
Discussions also touched on potential future areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Franklin Templeton. Jenny Johnson highlighted that Azerbaijan’s recent economic initiatives and development-oriented measures have created significant opportunities for international capital. She praised the stable and favorable investment climate in the country, noting that it provides a solid foundation for long-term partnerships.
It was emphasized during the meeting that Franklin Templeton’s extensive experience in capital markets, infrastructure, real estate, and renewable energy could contribute to Azerbaijan’s economic and financial agenda, as well as the implementation of its green transition goals.
President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the company’s close cooperation with the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ), stressing the importance of this partnership for deepening the country’s capital markets, strengthening the region’s investment potential, and promoting sustainable development. The Head of State also underlined the value of Franklin Templeton’s expertise in alternative investments and its successful projects across regional countries, noting that this opens broad prospects for enhanced collaboration.
For reference, founded in the United States in 1947, Franklin Templeton currently manages approximately $1.6 trillion in assets. The company operates nearly 70 offices across more than 30 countries and manages over 1,000 mutual funds and a wide range of investment products in more than 170 countries.
