Azerbaijani parliamentary commission investigates information campaign against Azerbaijan in Türkiye

The Temporary Commission of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats has investigated, within the scope of its authority, an information campaign conducted against the country in recent days via social media platforms from the territory of the Republic of Türkiye, APA reports, citing a statement by the commission.

It was noted that monitoring had established that the campaign, launched by certain centers, is aimed not only at targeting Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations of friendship, brotherhood and alliance, but also at misleading public opinion, creating distrust among citizens toward the state and its institutions, as well as causing polarization in society:

“The campaign is being conducted in a coordinated manner through targeted advertisements and real and fake social media accounts. We regret to note that a number of well-intentioned people in Azerbaijani and Turkish societies, which have always remained committed to the principle of ‘one nation, two states,’ are also supporting this malicious campaign. At the same time, although such activities entail legal liability under the legislation of the Republic of Türkiye, the campaign is still continuing.

It should also be noted that information regarding participants in the coordinated information campaign will be submitted to the relevant state authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan."

The Temporary Commission on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats called on Azerbaijani citizens and people in Türkiye to remain vigilant and not believe false information during such a sensitive period.
