Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov spoke about Azerbaijan’s energy priorities for the next decade and investment opportunities for the private sector during the “Energy Infrastructure” panel held as part of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, the Ministry of Energy told APA-Economics.
It was reported that strengthening energy security, developing oil and gas infrastructure, expanding renewable energy, modernizing power grids, energy storage and establishing regional energy connections are among the key priorities. Alongside maintaining Azerbaijan’s role as a reliable oil and gas supplier, the importance of developing new oil and gas fields, modernizing existing infrastructure and expanding the Southern Gas Corridor was emphasized.
It was noted that approximately 8 GW of renewable energy capacity is planned to be created by 2032, while green energy corridors that will connect the energy potential of the Caspian region and Central Asia with the markets of Türkiye and Europe are also being developed.
The minister identified renewable energy, wind energy in the Caspian Sea, energy storage, power grids, digitalization, energy efficiency and regional energy corridors as promising investment areas for the private sector.
“We see the private sector not only as a source of investment, but also as a long-term partner bringing new technologies, innovation and international expertise. Our goal is to build modern energy infrastructure that connects various energy sources and markets,” the minister said.
