The opening ceremony of the 10th anniversary Azerbaijan Grand Prix was held at the Baku City Circuit, APA reports.
The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed before the start of the main race.
The anthem was performed by People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and world-renowned tenor Yusif Eyvazov.
After the final notes of the emotional performance, attention once again turned to the star drivers. The stage and the competition now belong to them.
The winner of the anniversary Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be determined in a few hours. At the end of an intense 51-lap battle, one of the drivers will climb to the top step of the podium and raise the main trophy of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The trophy, however, is no ordinary award. Its design features the image of a flame. This element symbolizes Azerbaijan’s reputation as the “Land of Fire.”
The sides of the trophy also feature patterns inspired by Azerbaijani carpet-weaving traditions. Thus, the dynamics of Formula 1 and Azerbaijan’s rich national heritage are brought together in the trophy’s design.
The anthem has been performed and the opening ceremony has concluded. Now the main question is: Who will cross the finish line first?
The answer will be revealed shortly at the Baku City Circuit.
