There are hundreds of locations in Azerbaijan with great potential for tourism development, Anna Soave, Head of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Office in Azerbaijan told APA on the sidelines of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.
She expressed satisfaction with the organization of the forum, the number of participants and the topics discussed:
“I am very impressed with the organization of the second forum. The venue is magnificent, and there are many participants. I see both small and large investors. The signing of numerous agreements from yesterday to today shows that extensive preparations have been made for the event."
Soave said that particular attention during the panel discussions was paid to the Middle Corridor and the investment opportunities it creates. According to her, the interconnection of investments in various areas, including energy, connectivity, artificial intelligence and information technology, alongside transport, is of interest.
The UN-Habitat official emphasized that tourism has great development potential in Azerbaijan.
“As UN-Habitat, we are very interested in working with stakeholders in the tourism sector because we believe that tourism has great development potential in this country,” she said.
She noted that Azerbaijan already has widely known and successful tourism destinations. At the same time, she said there are hundreds of other locations worthy of attention.
“Many of these locations deserve attention through improved connectivity, the repurposing of historic buildings and the restoration of monuments. I think this could become a very effective direction for economic diversification.”
