After long discussions the opportunities, main topics and the issues concerning the language of the channel have already been determined. Actually, no one objects to the establishment of such a TV channel. The issue will be concrete after one of the Turkic states or an international organization assumes the expenses,” Director of Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, MP Nizami Jafarov told APA exclusively. He said that integration of Turkic peoples has accelerated recently.
“The easiest way to come closer is through culture. This is a sphere without diplomatic problems. I think that this TV channel will be on air this year,” he said.
The new channel will cover culture and history of the Turkic world, present joint cultural technologies and promote modern culture. Nizami Jafarov said that the language of the channel will be the common language close to Turkish.
“The channel can be financed in two ways. Every Turkic state may allocate funds or an international organization interested in the future of the Turkic world may finance the channel,” he said.
The parliamentarian also said the head office of the TV channel will possibly be located in Istanbul. But the channel is planned to have offices in all Turkic states.
TV reporter Mehriban Alakbarzadeh who is said to be director general of the channel did not confirm report on involving staff.
“I have ended my TV activity in Azerbaijan. If I do not keep my promise and start my activity as a TV reporter, I will give information about it. I am uninformed about “Culture” TV channel’s getting RTR’s frequency and issue on my chairing this TV channel,” she said.
But Mehriban Alakbarzadeh stressed that she only made a decision on not working in Azerbaijani TV channels. This veto does not concern TV channel to be opened in another country.
Head of Azerbaijan National Television and Radio Council (NTRC) Nushirevan Meherremli said that reports on giving RTR frequency to other channel are groundless. He said that such debate is not carried out and such debate is not intended soon.
“If Russia allows transmission of Azerbaijani TV channel in Russia, Moscow, we can review issue on transmission of Russian TV channel in Azerbaijan again,” he said.
Mr. Meherremli also stressed that any appeal and debates were not carried out on common culture television. /APA/
