Editor-in-chief of Azadliq newspaper sentenced to two-month imprisonment

The court hearing lasted for about an hour and 10 minutes. Ganimat Zahid was sentenced to two-month imprisonment. It is not yet known where he is held. Azer Ahmadov noted that before Ganimat Zahid’s court hearing started, plaintiff Vusal Hasanov had been handcuffed and taken by the police.
Ganimat Zahid was called to Yasamal district police office on November 10 due to the incident occurred outside Azerbaijan publishing house on November 7 this year. He was detained for 48 hours as a suspect. Editor-in-chief faced charges under articles 127 (deliberate bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the criminal code.
Ganimat Zahid was detained basing on the complaints of Vusal Shukur Hasanov and a woman introduced herself as his fiancée.
On November 7 when the editor-in-chief was going to work a woman in front of Azerbaijan publishing house said he insulted her and began crying and asking for help. Following this, Vusal Hasanov arrived and he had an incident with Ganimat Zahid. /APA/
