Correspondent of Azadliq newspaper Mirza Sakit who is held in Justice Ministry’s medical center started hunger strike yesterday, the prisoner’s brother, editor-in-chief of Azadliq newspaper Ganimat Zahid told APA. He said that Mirza Sakit again protests to his transferring to jail #14. Ganimat Zahid said his brother will soon be transferred to the jail.
The prisoner appealed to Justice Ministry’s penitentiary service for transferring him to a jail near the city, taking into account that jail #14 is situated far from the house his family lives in. Ganimat Zahid noted that the appeal was not taken into consideration.
Head physician of Justice Ministry’s medical center Rashad Damirov refuted the rumors on Mirza Sakit’s hunger strike. He said that the prisoner did not appeal concerning hunger strike.
“Doctors visited him today. Sakit Zahidov is not going on hunger strike,” he said.
The head physician said his treatment is over and he feels well.
Justice Ministry’s penitentiary service public affairs department also told APA that Mirza Sakit is not going on hunger strike. The department noted that penitentiary service is considering the appeal on his transferring to the jail near Mirza Sakit’s house. /APA/
