As part of large-scale construction and restoration work in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, illegal structures built during the occupation period are being demolished in the territories, said Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, at the Karabakh Education and Partnership Forum held in Khankendi, APA reports.
According to him, a large number of unauthorized construction works have been carried out by Armenians in the city of Khankendi, Agdara and Khojaly districts, which have been under occupation for more than 30 years: "Individual constructions have caused significant damage to the architectural style of cities and districts. Most of these structures, which do not belong to the architectural style of Azerbaijan, were built with very poor quality according to construction rules and norms. For this reason, these structures are being demolished."
E. Yusubov also said that a large campus of Karabakh University, located in the city of Khankendi, is currently being built: “Therefore, demolition work is being carried out in a large area around the university. However, buildings that meet construction standards in the area are being preserved.”
In his speech, the special representative of the president also touched upon the work done for former IDPs. According to him, 200 houses have been restored in the village of Ballija in the Khojaly district: “Currently, restoration work is continuing in that village. Reconstruction work and a process of resettlement to those villages have been carried out in the villages of Talish, Sugovushan, and Hasanriz in the Agdara district. In addition, construction and restoration work is being carried out in many settlements of the Agdara district. Special attention is paid to the employment issues of the population migrating to cities, villages, and settlements. About 45 million manats have been invested here by the private sector. As a result, many jobs have been created here.”
E. Yusubov also said that it is also planned to establish processing plants in the city of Khankendi and develop agriculture in the Agdara and Khojaly district.
