Reconstruction of the railway infrastructure in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan is ongoing, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC told APA-Economics.
83% of the design work and 63% of the construction and installation work on the Horadiz–Aghbend railway line has been completed.
Out of the total 110.4 km planned for the railway line, 75.6 km along the main axis (and 87 km including sidings) has already been completed and 65.6 km of long-welded rails have been installed.
As part of the project, it is planned to construct a total of 534 engineering structures, 8 stations, and install 70 track switches.
The Horadiz–Aghbend railway line, as a key transport artery of the Zangezur Corridor, will not only connect the main part of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, but also serve as a new segment of the Middle Corridor, expanding freight transport opportunities along the East-West-East route.
