Operators had to activate a manual system which caused longer intervals between the trains and overcrowding in stations.
Trains in both directions on the line from Hazi Aslanov Station were delayed when the automatic signaling system broke down, said Taghi Ahmadov, Chief of Baku Metro.
APS-Economics correspondent reported that a woman fainted in Nerimanov Station due to overcrowding in the carriage.
Taghi Ahmadov said the breakdown was solved at 10.05 am and normal interval between trains was restored.
The signaling system provides moving-block technology to optimize safe operation of trains with closer separation, as well as fully automated central control. These features allow high capacity for service frequency and efficiency, as well as flexible fleet operations.
