Lithuania will be granted TRACECA observer status

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission is expected to grant observer status to Lithuania in the conference to be held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) in May or June this year.
Akif Mustafayev, head of the Azerbaijan National Secretariat of TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, said all the TRACECA members have agreed to grant observer status to Lithuania.
Observer status is a privilege granted to non-members to give them an ability to participate in the organization’s activities.
Regarding Pakistan, Akif Mustafayev said that all member countries have not yet agreed to this country’s aspiration for TRACECA.
The TRACECA member countries have also agreed to Iran’s and Afghanistan’s membership. However, neither Iran nor Afghanistan has ratified the documents for membership for three years.
The TRACEA Intergovernmental Commission was established in 1998. Headquartered in Baku, TRACECA joins 12 countries from Europe and Asia.
