“Reconstruction and redecoration work has been completed. The station was redesigned in a modern way,†said Taghi Ahmadov, Chief of Baku Metro.
According to him, escalators of the station will be replaced in mid-2009.
The Cabinet passed a decision on April 25 to rename Baku Soveti Station as Icherisheher.
Reconstruction work in the station has been started since April 7 but the completion of works was delayed by interruption in materials and supplies delivery through the Black Sea due military operations in Georgia.
First opened in 1967, Baku Metro operates 21 stations now.
