Public Information Centers will be set up in Azerbaijan

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev - APA-Economics. The Multimedia Information Systems and Technology organizeda round table on “The Establishment of the Infrastructure of Public Information Centers: Problems and Prospects” on December 15.
Media Expert Alesger Mammedli presented the proposal to establish the infrastructure of public information centers.
He underscored the need to reduce the prices of Internet resources in order to make it available to all income groups in the country. According to him, public information centers should be set up at the appropriate railway stations, ports, post offices, schools because they already have telecommunications lines. He said that the proposals to establish the infrastructure of public information centers will be submitted to the Government.
Osman Gunduz, Director of Multimedia Center, announced the results of monitoring of e-services provided by state agencies.
According to the results, 16 government bodies still don’t provide any services and only 5 government bodies have hotline service.
The roundtable was held as pat of the Government Council to Support NGO’s project aimed at setting up a flexible and effective mechanism for the development of freedom of information.
