The court hearing in the criminal case of Anar Asadli, chairman of the dissolved Rise(Yuksalish) Party, has taken place, APA reports.

At today’s hearing held at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes , presided over by Judge Elnur Nuriyev, Anar Asadli gave testimony.

He said that he has known the victims for years: "I had a friendly relationship with the so-called victims for years. Ogtay Gasimov almost never left my house. Ilham Huseynli called me "my political leader". But today he is trying to arrest me. I met Etibar (Etibar Nasirov, known as the victim in the Anar Asadli case - ed.) in 2017-2018, we had a close relationship. When my father passed away, I took 5,000 from him, gave 2,000, and 3,000 remained. When I returned the money to him, he did not take it. My fault was that I believed them.

In October 2022, one of the former ministers called me and said that Ogtay Gasimov is complaining about you, there is a money dispute. I called Ogtay, he said that there was no such dispute.
The entire amount claimed by Ogtay Gasimov has been returned. Ilham's money has also been returned. I have also returned Etibar's 3 thousand manat, he did not take the money. His intentions are bad. He wants me to be arrested. Ogtay said in an interview that "reject Anar Asadli and his deputy, they are dangerous."

In the continuation of the process, lawyer Zibeyda Sadiqova filed a motion to place the accused under house arrest.

The motion was not granted.

The next hearing has been scheduled for January 9.

It should be noted that Anar Asadli was charged under Article 178 (fraud) of the Criminal Code and was placed under preventive detention in April 2023. Although the court later released Anar Asadli under house arrest, he was arrested in the courtroom at the first hearing upon the motion of the injured party.
