Another Iranian citizen who organized the smuggling of narcotics into the country has been detained as a result of a police operation, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told APA.
As a result of an operation carried out by officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs in the territory of the Fuzuli district, an Iranian citizen, 32-year-old Ehsan Kakavend, was caught red-handed. A total of 41 kg of marijuana enriched with psychotropic substances and 2,988 methadone pills were seized from him. During the initial interrogation, it was revealed that the individual had smuggled the narcotics into the country from the Iranian city of Parsabad and planned to place them at designated addresses in the Fuzuli district.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the fact, and by a court decision, a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen for the detainee.
Operations are ongoing to identify other members of the group who cooperated with the Iranian drug trafficker both inside the country and abroad.
