Chairman of municipality arrested in Azerbaijan

According to information, criminal investigation has been launched on Criminal Code Article â„–311.1 about the illegal actions of chairman of Old Khacmaz village municipality of Khacmaz region Israfilov Rahman Gulagha according to appeal of resident of the village received by the hotline service 161 of the Anti-Corruption Department under General Prosecutorâ€™s Office.

As a result of investigations, it was determined that while working as the chairman of Old Khacmaz municipality, Rahman Israfilov demanded USD 1,700 from the citizen to register officially 0,06 ha land of the resident and 0,03 ha land outside the residentâ€™s house.

Then he took USD 500 from this money and continued his illegal actions. He was detained in his office while taking bribery in amount of USD 1200 on May 14, 2012.

Israfilov was sent to pretrial detention.

Necessary investigations are being continued for restoration of violated rights of the citizens.
