In the first eight months of 2026, Azerbaijan achieved savings of AZN 453.7 million through electronic public procurement, Orkhan Mammadov, Deputy Head of the Office of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said at the conference titled "Digital Financial Ecosystem: A New Stage in Governance" held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the overall savings rate in electronic public procurement during the reporting period stood at 14.14%.
O. Mammadov noted that this indicator is calculated based on the ratio of the difference between approved prices and estimated prices resulting from electronic procurement to the estimated prices.
The agency official stated that in January–August 2026, the number of electronic procurement procedures increased by 10.3%, while their value rose by 12.5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The average number of participants in tenders held during that period was 3.5.
According to O. Mammadov, the increase in the volume of electronic procurement indicates a higher level of digitalization in public procurement, greater accessibility of procurement processes, and expanded opportunities for competition.
He also stated that, in addition to existing tools, it is now possible to use "SIMA Signature" to sign electronic procurement documents. This innovation increases accessibility for entrepreneurs and expands their options among electronic signature tools.
The agency official added that strengthening competition mechanisms in public procurement, optimizing prices, and ensuring the efficient use of public financial resources are among the main priorities.
