Following an appeal by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Office of Justice of the Federal Republic of Germany and negotiations held after the submission of the documents required under international procedures, an agreement has been reached on the extradition of Azerbaijani citizen Elmir Elkhan oglu Nuriyev to Azerbaijan, APA reports.
As part of a criminal case investigated by the Sumgayit City Police Department, reasonable suspicions have been established that Elmir Nuriyev committed fraud by presenting himself as a company director, deceiving various individuals and abusing their trust, making false promises to renovate their apartments, and thereby causing significant financial damage.
A relevant decision was made regarding the criminal prosecution of the individual, and he was placed on the international wanted list through Interpol's National Central Bureau after evading the investigation and going into hiding. As a result of the measures taken, his whereabouts were established in the Federal Republic of Germany, and he was detained.
Relevant measures are currently being taken to bring Elmir Nuriyev to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Prosecutor General's Office will continue cooperation with the relevant authorities of foreign countries, including Interpol, to locate wanted individuals and bring them to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
