"We found parade uniforms inside destroyed Russian army tanks," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with "The Diary of a CEO," APA reports.
"They literally wanted to hold a parade. They wanted to capture Kyiv within three days and celebrate a symbolic pseudo-victory spectacle in Independence Square," Zelenskyy said.
He also spoke about the expansion of the Ukrainian army and mobilization: "When the invasion began, mobilization was announced. Our army expanded from 200,000 personnel to 800,000. People voluntarily joined the army. The number of Russian troops across the entire territory of Ukraine was 700,000. This was a very large-scale attack."
Zelenskyy also acknowledged that the Ukrainian army was not heavily concentrated around the capital when the war began: "No one expected them to cross Belarus and advance toward the capital. Therefore, we did not have strong military formations there. This is a fact. We simply did not have an army of that size."
