Police statement on traffic movement regulation in Azerbaijani capital due to Eurovision 2012 song contest

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Baku City State Traffic Police Office issued statement on traffic movement regulation in Baku’s central streets due to Eurovision 2012 Song Contest. Department chief of the office Vagif Asadov told APA that the police would tighten security measures on May 10-31. The traffic movement will be restricted with intervals in the parts of the capital’s administrative territory, in particular by getting under control the streets and roads adjacent to the contest’s venue. The trucks will not be allowed to enter the city.

Asadov called the drivers not to use the roads towards Neftchilar avenue, Azneft circle, Azadlig square, Niyazi street, Z. Aliyeva, Rasul Rza, Teymur Elchin streets.

Asadov also addressed the residents working in the central part of the capital. He advised all people working in the Government House, Ministry of Communications and IT, Park Bulvar, Neftchilar avenue, Azadlig square, Azneft circle and the offices of governmental and non-governmental organizations not to use the cars while coming to work. All cars parked in these directions will be towed to impound lots.

Asadov said that all these measures aimed ensuring security of foreign guests during the contest.
