Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security discloses organized criminal group accused of robbing banking accounts through computers

Public Relations Center of the Ministry told APA that the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan â€“ Musayev Rahman Sahib, Abdullayev Elchin Tariyel, Zakiyev Emin Tahir, Dadashli Mikayil Elshad and others illegally entered the computer information protected by law, acquired their copies, withdrew large amount of money from the e-banking accounts of separate physical and legal bodies through this information, and secretly robbed the money by damaging their interest. It was revealed that Rahman Musayev established an organized gang consisting of Elchin Abdullayev, Emin Zakiyev, Mikayil Dadashli and others for the purpose of robbing the property of the others.

Members of the group joined Internet in Baku, entered the Moscow-registered Internet site and got information about the e-accounts of the clients of different US-based banks. Using this information, the group could rob AZN 6 180 from these accounts and transfer it to other e-account in February-June, 2011. The group also could draw AZN 9 298 from the bank accounts of the foreign citizens using the information from their Visa and MasterCards getting via Internet. They transferred the money to the account of a company to buy two Apple iPhone 4-32gb, four BlackBerry 9780, six BlackBerry 9780 White, four BlackBerry 9800 mobile phones. They sold these phones to different people under their real costs.

The Ministry of National Security prepared special operational plan and as a result of this plan the organized criminal group was detained while attempting to commit its next illegal action. The ministry launched criminal investigation. Rahman Musayev, Elchin Abdullayev, Emin Zakiyev and Mikayil Dadashli were detained and sentenced to pre-trial detention.
Necessary operational measures are continued for identifying and detention of other members of the criminal group.
