Persons, who violated state border and smuggled drugs, firearms, munitions, detained

Baku â€“ APA. The persons, who violated the protected state border and smuggled drugs, firearms, munitions and cold arms to Azerbaijan, were detained as a result of the operations carried out by the Ministry of National Security, Public Affairs Center of the Ministry told APA. Totally, over 61k drugs were seized during the operations. Azerbaijani Mahmudov Arzu Nadir, who was engaged in smuggling drugs en route Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia, was detained in St. Petersburg as a result of the joint operations carried out by the Ministry of National Security and Russia’s Federal Service for Drug Control. 40.300kg hashish was seized from him.

It was found out that Arzu Mahmudov and citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who are being identified, agreed to hide the hashish in the container with dates sent from Iran to Russia.
As a result of another operation carried out by the Ministry of National security, Astara residents â€“ Mammadov Vagif Yadulla, Hidayatov Khojahmad Ramazan and his wife Hidayatova Yagut Kishi, Ibrahimov Zaur Kishi, ahmadov Habil Mammadhasan and Ahmadov Muhandis Mammadhasan were detained.
It was found out that the abovementioned persons and others smuggled a great deal of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan. According to the agreement reached by the members of the group, early in October, 2010 Vagif Mammadov asked Zaur Ibrahimov to mediate in getting drugs for sale. Zaur Ibrahimov told his sister Yagut Hidayatova and her husband Khojahmad Hidayatov to obtain a great deal of drugs for Vagif Mammadov. Yagut Hidayatova and Khojahmad Hidayatov reached an agreement with Zaur Ibrahimov, the latter promised to give them $1500. After that, Yagut Hidayatova and Khojahmad Hidayatov agreed with their acquaintance Habil Ahmadov to get drugs. Habil Ahmadov met with the citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who are being identified, near Pelikesh village of Astara region. They received 21 kg 106.7 g of hashish gum and hid it in the forest near the village.

Habil Ahmadov took the drugs to Yagut and Khojahmad Hidayatovâ€™s house in Astara region and handed over to Vagif Mammadov and Zaur Ibrahimov. Vagif Mammadov gave him AZN 11 750 and USD 3 000 and took the drugs to Kolatan village of Astara region and was detained by the officers of the Ministry of National Security while he was trying to hide it. 21 kg 106.7 g of hashish gum was found in his house. The security officers also found money given by Vagif Mammadov to Habil Ahmadov.

The Investigative Department of the Ministry of National Security launched criminal investigation against them with a charge of drug smmugling, sale and transport.

Iranian citizens Inye Sofla Nazari and Rustam Rahimi were detained as a result of another search operations conducted by the Ministry of National Security when they were trying to smuggle arms and ammunitions to Azerbaijan.

The Investigative Department launched criminal investigation under article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code (arms smuggling), 318.2 (trespassing). Both Rahimi and Nazari were arrested for pre-trial restrictions.

The security forces continue search operations to detain other participants of the crime.
