On April 3, 2023, at the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the resolution titled "Promotion of Human Rights and Sustainable Development Goals through transparent, responsible, and efficient delivery of public services" was unanimously adopted at Azerbaijan's initiative, APA reports citing Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
65 countries, including the United States, China, Japan, European Union member states, Australia, Canada, as well as countries representing Africa, Asia and the Americas joined the said resolution as co-authors.
The resolution's purpose is to promote the principle of "transparent, responsible, and efficient delivery of state services" within the UN system, which is based on the "ASAN Service" concept, which is one of our country's significant achievements in the fight against corruption and has become an international brand of Azerbaijan.
The adopted resolution highlights the importance of efficient public services in the protection and promotion of all human rights, as well as the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Agenda. Emphasizing the important role that digital technologies play in preventing and fighting corruption, the resolution encourages UN member countries that have built successful models in the field of public services to share their experiences with others.
The resolution establishes the UN Award for Public Services, which was presented to ASAN Service in 2015, as the world's most prestigious award in the field of public services, and calls on UN agencies and other international organizations to continue to encourage and reward successful practices in the relevant field.
