The creation of a regional body and a functioning regional mechanism bringing together Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia has been proposed, Georgian political analyst and academic Badri Nachkebia told journalists, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Georgia reports.
Badri Nachkebia stated that in the context of recent global developments, the issue of security in the South Caucasus has become highly relevant and is at the forefront.
“As Georgia, what pleases us is that we are strategic partners with our neighbors, Armenia and Azerbaijan, especially with Azerbaijan. At the same time, it is observed that Azerbaijan-Armenia relations are entering a new phase and normalizing. This process can give a positive impetus to both economic and political relations among all South Caucasus countries.
First of all, it would be appropriate for all three states to join all energy projects. Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the energy sector and recent developments further increase the importance of this issue. Because the region further strengthens its role as a bridge between Europe and Asia, and the strategic importance of our states increases. If Armenia also joins this process, I do not see any negative aspect in this. The main thing is that in the future, it will become possible to create a body covering the entire South Caucasus that will support these processes by further developing relations. The creation of such a body will be of great importance. Because, along with meetings held at the level of heads of state, the launch of a functioning regional mechanism, at least in the economic field, would be beneficial both for individual countries and for the region as a whole,” he noted.
