Azerbaijani journalists visited the Amir Timur Mausoleum, one of Samarkand’s most famous historical and cultural monuments, as part of a media tour to Uzbekistan, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Uzbekistan reports.
The media representatives familiarized themselves with the history and architectural features of the monument, considered the mausoleum of the Timurid dynasty, and its role in shaping the historical image of Samarkand. UNESCO also lists the Gur-e-Amir ensemble among Samarkand’s main historical monuments.
The media tour participants toured the courtyard and interior halls of the mausoleum, familiarizing themselves with the architectural structure of the monument, decorative work on the walls and domes, tile art and historical tombstones.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani journalists’ visit to Samarkand, along with familiarization with historical monuments, is aimed at presenting Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and tourism opportunities to the Azerbaijani public.
