Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov has paid a visit to Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
As part of the visit, the Deputy Minister was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov.
During the meeting, issues arising from the strategic alliance between the two states were discussed. The importance of intensive contacts between the leaders of the two countries in the development of the alliance between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, based on relations of brotherhood and friendship, was particularly emphasized.
Later, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.
The political consultations were chaired by Deputy Minister Samir Sharifov on the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bobur Usmanov on the Uzbek side.
During the consultations, the positive dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue were emphasized, and the important role of the Intergovernmental Commission and the political consultation mechanism was also noted.
At the same time, the status of implementation of the agreements reached, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation in trade and economy, energy, transport and logistics, humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest were discussed.
In addition, issues of close interaction within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States, the Non-Aligned Movement and other multilateral platforms, were considered.
Within the framework of the consultations, views were also exchanged on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov has received Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, APA reports.
“Pleased to receive Samir Sharifov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Welcomed the outcomes of the latest round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
