"It is not fair that only five states have a say in the United Nations Security Council," said Chief Advisor to the President of Türkiye on Foreign Policy and Security Issues, Akif Cagatay Kilic, during the panel titled "UN Pact for the Future: Creating a New Global Consensus" held within the framework of the XII Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

He noted that although Türkiye strives to support Ukraine as much as possible, existing limitations and the lack of a climate of trust between the conflicting parties do not sufficiently allow for it.

Akif Cagatay Kilic also touched upon how recent political developments have reduced the public's trust in politicians worldwide:

"My country has long been a candidate for EU membership, but it is not being allowed to achieve its goal. Yesterday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that joining the European Union is a strategic objective for our country. There are five superpowers in the world, but they are not solving existing problems. If a survey were conducted globally, it would show that people do not trust politicians. The public wants only the issues that concern them to be addressed. It is not a fair approach that only five states can make decisions in the UN Security Council. We must resolve issues related to us in a timely manner so that they do not take control of us."
