“Investing in both human capital and educational infrastructure is extremely important for developing the knowledge and skills required by the energy systems of the future,” Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp’s Vice President for the Caspian region, Central Asia and Türkiye, said during the opening ceremony of a modern renewable energy laboratory at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), APA-Economics reports.
“Our goal in supporting the master’s program in renewable energy and establishing this new laboratory at ASOIU is to provide students and researchers with an opportunity to gain practical experience in technologies that are becoming increasingly important in the rapidly changing energy sector. We hope that this initiative will contribute to enhancing renewable energy skills in the country, strengthening research and teaching capabilities, and training highly qualified specialists who will support Azerbaijan’s energy transition,” Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli noted.
It should be noted that today bp donated a modern renewable energy laboratory to Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). This marks another important milestone in the company’s support for the development of education and skills in the field of renewable energy in Azerbaijan. The establishment of the laboratory is the final part of bp’s $2 million social investment initiative aimed at training a new generation of local engineers specializing in renewable energy.
It should be recalled that since beginning operations in Azerbaijan, bp, on its own behalf and on behalf of its partners in the joint projects it operates, has spent a total of more than $115 million on social investment projects in the country.
