Russia has decided to close Germany’s Consulate General in St. Petersburg and expel employees of the Goethe centers from the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated, APA reports.
The Foreign Ministry has demanded that German diplomats in St. Petersburg leave Russia by September 18.
Employees of the Goethe centers must leave Russia by September 13.
“Responsibility for the consequences of a new escalation in relations between the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany lies entirely with Berlin,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in its statement.
