On March 11, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, as part of his official visit to Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.
The one-on-one meeting took place between the ministers was later followed by an expanded meeting with the participation of delegations from both sides. During the extended meeting, the existing strategic partnership relations between the two countries, prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international developments were discussed.
The other side was also informed about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories, mine clearance activities, as well as the current state of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
The construction of the Kurmangazy Children's Creativity Center by the government of Kazakhstan in the liberated Fuzuli city was highlighted with gratitude.
Kazakhstan’s continued support for the peace process was highly appreciated, it was brought to attention that despite the achievements made within the framework of the bilateral negotiations on the draft peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the continuation of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian constitution and a number of legislative acts, and the stance of the Armenian side regarding the maintenance of the Minsk Group, remain a fundamental problem.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest.
At the end of the meeting, the ministers signed an action plan for 2025-2026 between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
Later, the ministers made statements at a press conference on the outcomes of the meeting.
